Reece’s 2-Over 73 Good for 2nd Overall in Chargers’ Spring Opener

The Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team opened its spring season with a third-place finish in an Arrowhead Conference meet hosted by the Chargers on Tuesday afternoon at Lake Bracken Country Club.
Sophomore Brayden Reece (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) paced Sandburg with a 2-over-par 73, good for second overall behind Illinois Valley’s Peyton Pyszka, who shot an even-par 71 for medalist honors.
The Chargers totaled a 319 as a team, finishing behind Illinois Valley (305) and Black Hawk (307). Highland (330) was fourth and Sauk Valley (331) fifth.
Bryce Grafton (Orion, Ill./Orion) shot a 9-over 80 for the Chargers, while Brady Grafton (Orion, Ill./Orion) and Grant Campbell (Earlville, Ill./Earlville) each carded an 83. Matt Graves (Oneida, Ill./ROWVA) came in with a 93 for Sandburg.
The Chargers continue their conference season with a meet hosted by Illinois Valley at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Senica’s Oak Ridge.
